On September 28, a week after the global climate strike, we will be planting 250-300 trees on the SIT campus, reforesting roughly three acres of land! WE NEED YOUR HELP TO PLANT ALL THESE TREES. TAKING ROOT is an inspiring film about Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai of Kenya and her decades of activism through tree-planting. She founded the Green Belt Movement, which united rural women in Kenya to plant trees. The resulting grassroots movement ending up taking on not just deforestation but poverty, ignorance, special interests and political repression.
